The Innovation Zone provides the perfect opportunity to showcase your unique creations in personal care.  Shine the spotlight on your latest formulation, product or ingredient at this year's Innovation Zone in Tauranga!

Judging Criteria

  • A new product, formulation or concept created within the last 12 months or newly developed and launched on the day. The audience will be asked to review the sensory, the functionality, the overall sustainability, and the uniqueness.

  • A product, formulation or concept designed with the planet in mind. The audience will be asked to review the biodegradability and/or recyclability, the carbon footprint, and whether it is from renewable sourcing.

  • A new product launched within the last 12 months with a focus on the Kiwi can-do spirit and promoting New Zealand as the theme.

    We encourage all startup brands to participate!

    The audience will be asked to review the functionality, the appearance and feel, the overall sustainability and the fitness to the theme.

  • Discover new active ingredients launched by suppliers in the last 12 months. The audience will be asked to review the efficacy, the sustainability profile, and the innovativeness.

  • Discover new functional ingredients launched by suppliers in the last 12 months. The audience will be asked to review the sensory and/or functionality benefit, the ease of use, the overall sustainability, and the innovativeness.

How to Enter

Information you need to submit to us:


Innovation Zone submissions will be displayed on a stand and you will be required to submit the following information (which will be displayed with your product) to us by the Friday 11th July. Please email all information to technical@nzscc.org.nz and cc info@nzscc.org.nz

  • An abstract that describes your innovation

    • Between 100-200 words including why it should win the award category

    • Completed entry form

    • Colour photograph 

    • State the category, your company/brand name (and/or the name of the formulator if you are submitting for Best Innovative Concept)

  • Submit 2 x 50ml product samples which will be used in the Innovation Zone display, one sample per day. Please send your correctly marked and labelled samples with your company / brand name and item description to the address below - they must reach us before Friday 11th July:

Entry Fees and T&C

  • New Zealand Spirit*, Best Innovative Concept^ & Best Sustainable Design* categories - $52.5 per product

  • Best Active and Functional Ingredient** - $105 per ingredient

Please note you may display additional materials, please enquire first before supplying, otherwise we cannot guarantee they would be displayed.

The Innovation Zone will be open during conference break times. The nominee should be an NZSCC/IFSCC member already/will become an NZSCC/IFSCC member and must select/send a delegate to attend in order to qualify for their entry.

Winners and runner-ups for all categories will be entitled to an award image for their own use and will be mentioned in the newsletter following the conclusion of the conference.
